
IPL Auction 2018 Updates
The highly anticipated auctions for the 11th season of Indian Premier League started on Saturday, with all the franchises bidding for the players for the upcoming tournament that will start from April 1, 2018. A total of 578 players have been finalised by the IPL Governing Council to go under the hammer on auctions which took place on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore.
As eight franchises look to rebuild their teams, here’s a list of 10 most expensive players from the auction. England all-rounder Ben Stokes topped the list with a whopping bid of Rs 12. 5 crores. However, the crown of being IPL’s most expensive player goes to Virat Kohli, retained earlier by RBC For 17Cr, Ms Dhoni, CSK and Rohit Sharma, MI 15Cr. were also retained for a higher sum than stokes. While Chennai Super Kings did not retain R Ashwin, Gautam Gambhir, as expected, went to Delhi Daredevils.
10. Sanju Samson: 8 Crore
Rajasthan Royals bought wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson for a gigantic 8 crore for the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. It is the homecoming for the young player!
9. Krunal Pandya: 8.8 Crore
Mumbai Indians parted with 8.8 crores to have Krunal Pandya in the side. Krunal Pandya, who was Man of the Match in pervious season’s semi-final and final as Mumbai Indians surged to the IP title, With this, both Krunal and Hardik Pandya will play for Mumbai Indians in this edition of IPL.
8. Rashid Khan: 9 Crore
Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Rashid Khan Arman for a whopping 9 crore. The much sought after Afghan player was a part of the same team in the last session of the Indian Premier League.
7. Glenn Maxwell: Rs 9 Crore
IPL 2018 Auction proved to be lucky for another Australian, Glenn Maxwell who was chosen up by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 9 crore. There were a lot of candidates for Maxwell – SRH and Rajasthan Royals being the foremost. But it is Delhi who finally has Maxwell in their kitty.
6. Mitchell Starc: Rs 9.4 Crore
Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc also had a lucky day the auction. He went for Rs 9.4 crore to Kolkata Knight Riders.
5. Chris Lynn: 9.6 Crore
The 27-year-old, Australian batsman Chris Lynn another expensive player was chosen by Kolkata Knight Riders for a massive sum of 9.6 crores. He played for KKR in the previous edition of IPL as well.
4. Manish Pandey: 11 Crore
Manish Pandey joins the league of most expensive players in IPL 2018. He was begged by Sunrisers Hyderabad for a sum of 11 crores on Day 1 of the auction. He has played for Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous seasons of the IPL.
3. KL Rahul: Rs 11 Crore
KL Rahul became the first Indian to touch the double-figure first Day of IPL Auction 2018. He was chosen by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 11 crore.
2. Jaydev Unadkat: 11.5 Crore
Unadkat bagged a huge 11.5 crore from Rajasthan Royals- the first big buy-in second Day of the auction. So far, he is the top most expensive Indian player in IPL 2018. Earlier, he has played for Pune Supergiant in the IPL.
1.Ben Stokes: Rs 12.5 Crore
He was chosen by Rajasthan Royals at a whopping price of Rs 12.5 crore. Unexpectedly, Ben Stokes was snapped up for a record price of Rs 14.5 crore in the previous season of the IPL as well.
